It has long been a fact that Jeff Beck is a guitar player’s guitar player.
It must have been over 45 years ago when I heard “Blow by Blow”, his first instrumental album. “Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers”, a track on that record, affected me instantly on a deep, emotional level. It is my favorite instrumental guitar song to this day.
Jeff’s guitar playing is like a raging gale force wind and mellow tropical rainfall; a soul vaccination. His onstage presence. Those harmonics. His vibrato. His dirty blues. So unique. So not of this world.
Rest In Peace.
